About this aircraft
- The Hawker 400XP is an upgraded version of the 400A. It launched in 2004 with an increased gross weight, longer range and a redesigned fuel system, but kept the same Pratt & Whitney JT15D engines.
- The 400XP is typically configured in a seven-seat layout. A further passenger can be seated in the enclosed lavatory if required. The aircraft can allow for up to nine passengers with one person sitting in the cockpit with a single pilot. However, this option is not available for charter.
- The baggage compartment is large enough to hold six suitcases.
- Over 220 400XPs were manufactured until production ended in 2010.
- The XPR model launched in 2017 with new Hawker winglets, range-boosting Williams FJ44 engines and a refurbished interior.

Interior design
An innovative square-oval design creates plenty of space in the Hawker 400XP’s flat-floored cabin. The standard seven-passenger layout features four seats in a club arrangement with fold-out tables, flanked by three individual seats or a divan in the front.
The eight-seat configuration includes an extra seat in the front in place of a galley. In both layouts, the enclosed lavatory can be used as an extra passenger seat.

Technological features
Two Pratt & Whitney JT15D engines power the Hawker 400XP, each offering 2,965 lbs of thrust. The flight deck has a Rockwell Collins Pro-Line 4 EFIS electronic flight and information system with a colour primary flight display and multifunction displays.
The upgraded 400XPR model features new avionics and winglets. Two Williams International FJ44-4A-32 turbofan engines boost the jet’s hot-and-high flight capabilities and give it a 33% longer range and a faster rate of climb, travelling to FL450 in just 19 minutes.
History
The series began with the Mitsubishi MU-300 Diamond, which first flew in 1978 before the upgraded Diamond 2 launched in 1985. Only 11 Diamond 2s were built before Beech purchased the design and production rights, resulting in the Beechjet 400. The 400A launched in 1990 with a greater operating ceiling and a more spacious cabin.
Aerospace conglomerate Raytheon purchased the line in 1993 and renamed it the Hawker 400, improving its aerodynamics to boost performance and range. The 400XP entered the market in 2004, while the first 400XPR was delivered in 2017 featuring new Hawker winglets and avionics, Williams FJ44 engines and a refurbished interior.
Manufacturer
Headquartered in Kansas, American aircraft brand Beechcraft was originally part of Beech Aircraft Corporation. It later became a division of Raytheon and then Hawker Beechcraft, which built Beechcraft/Hawker business jets from 2006 to 2013.
After going bankrupt in 2012, the company emerged as Beechcraft Corporation and was acquired by Textron Aviation in 2014. Beechcraft discontinued the jet line but still offers parts and engineering support for existing aircraft.
