The Cessna Citation II was one of a kind when it entered the light business jet market in 1978. Over 1,000 jets were sold within its first four years on the market and it went on to become one of Cessna’s best-selling private jets of all time. Although it’s now a little dated, the Citation II remains a flexible, comfortable and convenient charter solution.

History
Following the success of the Citation I, Cessna wanted to produce an aircraft that offered reduced purchasing and operating costs alongside increased size and range.
Announced in 1976 and certified in 1978, the Cessna II had a stretched cabin and wingspace along with a greater range and payload. The incredibly successful aircraft dominated the market for 16 years until production ceased in 1995. The upgraded Citation Bravo followed, with improved avionics, range, cruise speed and fuel efficiency.
Manufacturer
Cessna was founded in 1927 by Clyde Cessna and Victor Roos. It was originally called the Cessna-Roos Aircraft Company, but Roos’ name was dropped after he resigned just one month into the partnership and sold back his interest to Cessna.
Headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, the company specialised in producing small piston-powered planes and business jets. After becoming one of the world’s biggest general aviation producers, it was bought by General Dynamics in 1985 and by Textron in 1992. In March 2014, Cessna stopped operating as a subsidiary company and joined Beechcraft and Hawker as one of the three distinct brands produced by Textron Aviation.
