The Hawker 750 is known for its excellent performance and one of the largest cabins in the light to midsize jet category.

About this aircraft

  • Also known as the Hawker Beechcraft 750, the Hawker 750 made its first test flight in 2007 and received FAA certification in 2008.
  • The cabin is typically laid out to accommodate up to eight passengers, with an extra seat in the enclosed lavatory if required.
  • The Hawker 750 can fly non-stop for four-and-a-half hours with four passengers, completing routes like New York to Miami and London to Cairo.
  • The baggage hold has space for around seven suitcases.
  • Production ended in 2012 after 48 deliveries.

The Hawker 750 has the same Honeywell TFE 731-5BR turbofan engines as the longer-range Hawker 800XP for impressive speed and take-off performance, while the ventral fuel tank has been replaced with a heated external baggage compartment providing 32 ft³ of additional baggage space.

Interior design

According to Hawker, the 750’s cabin is one of the largest in its class. The standard layout features five single executive seats that slide, swivel and recline, plus a three-seat side-facing divan.

Most configurations have a comprehensive galley with microwave, coffee maker, ice drawer and storage cupboards, as well as a lavatory in the rear of the aircraft with a closet and an accessible baggage compartment.

Interesting facts to learn before you fly

  • Fully loaded, the Hawker 750 can easily negotiate 5,000-foot runways. It can also land on gravel and grass airstrips.
  • From 2008, the Hawker 750 could be fitted with the Aircell Axxess II satellite communications system.
  • At six feet wide, the cabin feels particularly spacious.

Technological features

The Hawker 750 is powered by two Honeywell TFE731-5BR engines giving 4,660 pounds of thrust each. Rockwell Collins ProLine 21 avionics include four adaptive and configurable display screens; an integrated flight information system with electronic charts, graphical weather and enhanced map overlays; and a NEXRAD weather radar system.

The Rockwell Collins Airshow 21 cabin management system provides user-friendly LCD screens at every seat and control of temperature, lights and entertainment.

History

The Hawker 750 is a lower-cost, lighter-weight and shorter-range version of the Hawker 800XP. It made its first flight in August 2007 and was certified in February 2008. Production ended in 2012 after 48 deliveries.

Manufacturer

British aircraft manufacturer Hawker was co-founded by aviation pioneer Harry Hawker in 1920, later merging with engineering group Armstrong Siddeley to form Hawker Siddeley. The company’s famous Hawker Hurricane fighter plane formed a key part of Britain's front-line defence in the Battle of Britain during the Second World War.

The brand’s 125 series is among the most successful British commercial aircraft ever built. Initially developed by de Havilland as the DH.125 Jet Dragon, it entered production as the Hawker Siddeley HS.125 in 1964 and underwent several more reincarnations over the years; such as the Beechcraft Hawker BH.125 and the BAe 125, when Hawker Siddeley merged with the British Aircraft Corporation to form British Aerospace. Later variants included the Hawker 700 and Hawker 800.

British Aerospace sold its business jets division to Raytheon in 1993, which went on to sell its aircraft manufacturing business to Hawker Beechcraft, a company formed and controlled by GS Capital Partners and Onex Partners of Canada. Hawker Beechcraft went bankrupt in 2012 and relaunched as Beechcraft, now owned by Textron Aviation, which discontinued production of Hawker aircraft but continues to offer parts and engineering for existing planes.

Cost

The Hawker 750 cost $11.9 million (USD) at the time production ceased. Nowadays, a pre-owned model will set you back around $3 million.
